Handmade and Vintage Wedding Rings from Etsy.com

These are a few of my favorite rings... from Etsy.com!

I've mentioned elsewhere in this blog that there's a nice wedding band to suit any budget, even a low one. I found my ring on Ebay. It has someone else's engraved initials in it, marked with the year 1927, and I think that is just awesome. And it goes perfectly with the engagement ring that was handed down to me from my husband's dear grandmother. What an honor, to adorn my "taken" finger with a family heirloom.

My husband's wedding band was handcrafted by a jeweler who he knows through mutual friends. He's as happy with his choice, as I am with mine.

Anyway, if you're looking for a different sort of wedding ring, or set of wedding rings, check out the offerings on Etsy.com... the place for Handmade and Vintage items.

His and hers ring set... clever, cherry blossom design is engraved on the inside of his ring, so it matches hers but keeps the continuity of the design. Do you love this cherry blossom wedding ring? Order your own on Etsy.com.

Here's a white gold and diamond "eternity ring" wedding band from Polamai Jewelers. Available in your size and for a modest price, on Etsy.com

Here's another set of his and hers wedding bands in white gold. I really like the art deco design, how about you? From DiMichel's, on Etsy, available in white gold, yellow gold, rose gold and sterling silver.

The orange blossom wedding ring is a popular choice for brides who want a secondhand, vintage wedding band. A lot of these are still floating around from the 1920s and 30s. This one is sterling silver, and available for purchase on Etsy.com
Here's a yellow-gold, thin vintage style wedding ring in the Versailles pattern. If you click on the Etsy link, you can select from a dropdown list of sizes before making your purchase.
This handmade, silver flower wedding band is ideal for the frugal bride and comes in a full range of sizes. Click here to check out more photos on Etsy, and place your order.

Wedding Day Throwback Thursday

How much do you love looking at old photos? From the serious and even surly expressions captured at a time when the camera was a newfangled and unfamiliar contraption, to extreme fashion trends through the decades... old family pictures, no matter whose family, never cease to amuse and delight me. I thought it would be fun to have a Throwback Thursday of vintage wedding shots. Thanks to the folks on Facebook who helped me gather up these gems!

Jack's Barn – Rustic Barn Wedding in Northwest NJ

Well, we've been on the hunt for a closer barn wedding venue than that superb place I visited in Ithaca, and I finally got word of one here in NJ...

Tucked away in a not-so-distant western New Jersey township called White is "The Loft" at Jack's Barn. This is Warren County's premier, barn-wedding location that juxtaposes rustic and refined elements for a truly unforgettable wedding reception setting and celebration.

Once a thriving feed mill, Jack's Barn lends an original and historic flavor to your special event. Their turn of the century backdrop sets the scene for breathtaking wedding-day photos. The Loft at Jack's Barn is also updated with all the necessary elements that will add convenience and sophistication.

For catering, Jack's Barn offers you the option of working with one of 3 different local NJ wedding vendors: Frungillo Caterers, Q-Classic or David'sCountry Inn. They encourage you to reach out to each one of these fine establishments before choosing one that best meets your needs.

If you're looking to set a date for your wedding in 2017, then contact Jack's Barn as soon as possible. They only have a few spots left for 2016 which may or may not be available by the time you read this post. Jack's Barn can accommodate events both large and small.

Just a mile from Jack's Barn is Twenty Belvidere... another beautiful, historic location that can comfortably host up to 16 guests for your after-wedding overnight stay. This historic hilltop estate features 8 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and one half-bath. Guests have access to the grand parlor and music room, fenced in "three-season room," spacious foyer and library, and resplendent grounds.

Shoes for the Unconventional Bride

Does the idea of jamming your tootsies into a pair of unforgiving bridal heels give you the willies? Do you picture yourself tripping down the aisle, wiping out on the dance floor, and sliding headfirst into your own wedding cake?

Relax! Unconventional NJ brides have plenty of options when it comes to adorning their feet on the big day. Flats, flip-flops, slippers, sneakers, booties... all are acceptable forms of footwear, especially if you're going with a floor-length dress.

Some inspiration from around the web....

Take a peek at these lacy bridal high-top sneakers! Found on Pinterest.

Dancing shoes, anyone? All right, so these don't look as comfy as some others, but how Dirty Dancing is this? If dancing is your thang, why not play that up with a flowy,  knee-length skirt that has plenty of spin, and these strappy little shoes?

Found on Pinterest.

Lacy slippers for classic comfort on your wedding day. Here's the link, found on Pinterest.

Here's a cute pair of white, blossom-covered wedding flats for easy purchase on Amazon. Please note that the seller is acknowledging that you should order a larger size, as these are listed in Asian shoe sizing. Not sure if there's a sizing chart to help clear this up, but I thought these were nice and feminine.

Below, another find from Amazon... these practical yet stylish bridal sandals make the perfect beach wedding footwear. Check out the no-skid soles. Safety first, ladies!

Is it me, or are these jazzy bridal shoes kind of adorable? Stay-put ankle strap, lace overlay and not-too-high heel.
